Hello from India !

Post by ananyaa »

Hello everyone!

I am a new member to this forum and chanced upon this community while searching for academic courses that I could undertake to further my learning of Buddhism. I have noticed a few good programmes in USA, but information about the courses and topics is almost overwhelming. At the moment, I am very open minded about what part of Buddhism I would like to study and which country I could study in.
I have studied Sanskrit for about five years, understand the devanagari script, and am proficient in English (other than Hindi and a regional Indian language - Marathi). I have learnt Vipassana meditation under Sri S N Goenka (more at http://www.dhamma.org" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) and have also sat a few courses. I meditate from time to time, and now considering studying in this field too to get the theoretical side to my practice.
Any help to help me sift through the information to identify a suitable course is most welcome!

With a lot of goodwill to all of you,
Ananyaa

Ah, have you ever been in Goa?

Welcome.
Equanimity is the ground. Love is the moisture. Compassion is the seed. Bodhicitta is the result.

-Paraphrase of Khensur Rinpoche Lobsang Tsephel citing the Guhyasamaja Tantra

"All memories and thoughts are the union of emptiness and knowing, the Mind.
Without attachment, self-liberating, like a snake in a knot.
Through the qualities of meditating in that way,
Mental obscurations are purified and the dharmakaya is attained."

-Ra Lotsawa, All-pervading Melodious Drumbeats
