In this way it is soooo common sense that one doesn't have to have religious beliefs, one doesn't have to be Buddhist, one doesn't have to suspend any disbelief in gods, etc. Just recognizing your true nature. Other paths are longer and end where Dzogchen begins.
However, Dzogchen doesn't have a monopoly on it. Many people all over the world have spontaneously recognized their true nature. And they have taught about it. Since Dzogchen originated in Oddiyana near the Pakistan/Afghanistan border in the Greco-Buddhist kingdom, many Sufis have also been exposed to Dzogchen teachings. Also, the Greeks have likely taken the teachings back to the Alexandria in Egypt. Rumi's teacher Shams of Tabriz attained the Rainbow body leaving behind just his robe, fingernails and hair.
When one recognizes Rigpa and the clear light dawns in awareness, the mind is illuminated. Everything is illuminated! Awareness is light. Well, not photons literally. This light is very very very blissful. It causes perma-grin.
