Illumination of the mind in Dzogchen practice?...

Post by Wesley1982 »

To me, there is a strong sense of Illumination of the mind since beginning to inquire and investigate about Buddhism.

Also - illumination beyond any concept of mind, body, or illumination.

BODHI

Homage to the Dzogchen Masters.

May they live long with good health and success in all things.

Dear all and All,

Illumination is not limited to Dzogchen or Buddhism.

The "glory", seen around the head / body, in religious art from all cultures, is a symbol of the subjective experience of illumination.

From a Buddhist Library, Things I Like to share:

http://www.abuddhistlibrary.com/Buddhis ... 0share.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

See #25 and #28.

That said, the teachings / practices of Dzogchen are an easy way in.

The key point for Dzogchen is direct introduction: not to get hung up on any subjective (objective) experience, but allow experiences to spontaneously manifest without comment or correction.

Then, silent illumination, or angry thought / emotion tsunami, doesn't matter so much.

Another way to put this is:

So when you are completely tired of words: BODHI

Homage to the Dzogchen Masters. May they live long in good health and with success in all things.

What I love about Dzogchen is that it goes right to the heart of the matter without all those transformation practices. In this way it is soooo common sense that one doesn't have to have religious beliefs, one doesn't have to be Buddhist, one doesn't have to suspend any disbelief in gods, etc. Just recognizing your true nature. Other paths are longer and end where Dzogchen begins.

However, Dzogchen doesn't have a monopoly on it. Many people all over the world have spontaneously recognized their true nature. And they have taught about it. Since Dzogchen originated in Oddiyana near the Pakistan/Afghanistan border in the Greco-Buddhist kingdom, many Sufis have also been exposed to Dzogchen teachings. Also, the Greeks have likely taken the teachings back to the Alexandria in Egypt. Rumi's teacher Shams of Tabriz attained the Rainbow body leaving behind just his robe, fingernails and hair.

When one recognizes Rigpa and the clear light dawns in awareness, the mind is illuminated. Everything is illuminated! Awareness is light. Well, not photons literally. This light is very very very blissful. It causes perma-grin.
