Too much snow!

Postby Wizard in the Forest » Thu Jan 27, 2011 1:30 am

Don't you miss the days where almost a foot and a half of snow would make your day instead of filling the mind with dread? A few winters ago my illusion was shattered when sheet ice a couple inches thick sent me crashing onto a frozen drainage pond, unable to escape for hours with no thought of just how grave the situation was. I don't think I am averse to the snow anymore, but when I've got a foot and a half and counting, I can't help but feel like I will not ever feel that innocent sense of joy. All impermanent indeed, but hey, I can be sure I'm not the only one whose mind changed that way hehe... anyone else stuck in the snow?

Not sure how much is out there, but quite a bit. My sister could barely make it up the hill from where she works and my niece got stuck later and they had to push her car for awhile. I am glad to be inside where it is warm.

We run a family daycare here and it looks like we're getting overtime because their poor parents have no way of getting here. We're keeping one overnight, and another little one's mother is stuck on the road with no idea when she's getting here. Dad is in the same situation. I stayed home today, so I am doing fine, but kinda worried about Pops in his tiny red car....

Snow?
Not here! Most of my state is just getting over floods, and my part of it is keeping a watchful eye on a cyclone out in the Coral Sea.
To each his/her own, I guess. :juggling:
Take care.

Yes, arctic winter winter here, the second winter with lots of snow,

which unfortunately costs me a lot of money, for oil, for a man to help me remove it...

but the snowflakes, sinking down slowly.... or merrily dancing around.... and the birds sitting at the feeding place... just 3 m away from me while I am typing.... is nice.

Oh, Kim, btw, we had both.

First lots of snow, then a flood, and now snow again.

Very snowy here in the lovely Hudson Valley area and New Jersey.

Not fun to commute through - last night's commute was a trip through dukkha indeed...

We had snow here a month ago. Looked beautiful, but the traffic jams were not so fun. I had a four hour trip from Amsterdam to my home one day. This is a trip that usually takes little over a hour. Other than serious traffic problems here we had nothing so severe as what you're describing.

@Annapurna: do you still use oil to warm your house in Germany? :o

I saw that once when on vacation in Belgium, but it hasn't been seen in over 40 years here.

Here you go Hanzee. This is from last night. I had to talk through a five foot snow drift to get to the garage where I keep the shovel.

Massachusetts at the moment is covered in snow.

It's terrible. Mostly because I want to go get a vegan hot chocolate down town but I have no means to get there in this weather...normally I could just walk. Today is going to be a homework doing, movie watching, telephone talking day.
