Hi
For the 3 points what I would say is:
1°) The scientific community doesn't even believe in psy (parapsychology), let alone rebirth.
2°) Of course hypnosis can make people aware of information they've learnt unconsiously, but what about people speaking an ancient language now disappeared, or giving precise details about the history of a place, details not even known by specialists.
3°) Cold reading doesn't explain very precise information, or even information unknown to all participants.

Now concerning why I think evidence for rebirth (and survival in a more general way) is that it radically changes our vision of the world, not less than the discovery of evolution or the copernician revolution.

Hi clw_uk
I understand your point of view and I prefer not to argue further, I think it would be pointless. :juggling:

"When one thing is practiced & pursued, ignorance is abandoned, clear knowing arises, the conceit 'I am' is abandoned, latent tendencies are uprooted, fetters are abandoned. Which one thing? Mindfulness immersed in the body." -AN 1.230

Interesting story but do you have a link to something other than a blog? All I could find on the internet when i searched his name were blogs that repeated the story

Need to provide something more substantial than that

Also dont you find it strikingly suspicious that he was born into a culture that has rebirth/reincarnation as a given?

Aloka,

Don't worry. Belief in rebirth is one of factors preventing it from happening.

Besides, even if you did prove it beyond all reasonable doubt, it would just be something else to let go of
