Collective practices including many deity practices are part of what is offered in the Dzogchen Community of Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche.

Guruyoga is the path to realising our true nature, and deity practices are a means to support us while we are still imperfect and in need of help.

Firstly, is that a fair summation of the teachings in the DC ?

How does that differ from the view of Vajrayana, for example with regard to HYT, which may be seen as a direct path in its own right?

DI teachings is what the Master always taught ... he often insists on the sense of the teaching, which is still maybe not very clear for some. He also insists on the fact that "you have to realize, this is your path".

"Guru Yoga is only practice we ask. We don't ask mantra, etc, also it can be usefull ... when we receive negativity. It is secondary practices (you need the transmission of the rlung" ChNN - 6/17/2012

So secondary practices don't differe from Vajrayana, they are Vajrayana practices ... this not Dzogchen

I was wondering if the VIEW of Vajrayana practices was different between teachers and practitioners of Dzogchen and those of Vajrayana only.



ChNNR seemed to be implying yesterday that the practices were there as a supporting set of tools, whereas the Vajrayana view may be that HYT and self-generation was the ultimate, with perhaps Mahamudra as the last step in the progressive path, after HYT self-generation practices.
