Took a few tries before that link worked. But it is worth pointing out that Florida is more than just Disney and golf courses. There is a tremendous amount of wildlife here too. Those of us who want to preserve the natural state are working against big money. It's frustrating, which may account for my extreme reaction about this spill. Looking to Obama to make me proud of supporting him in 2008.

I'm here for Summer storm season. Hope to get some nice "green water/cool clouds" pics.
Obama's speech sucked, by the way.
Here's some more happy news

I'm on the Florida panhandle now. Seems the eleventy-trillion gallons of chemical dispersant has prevented catastrophic oil slicks on the beach, but no one knows what is happening at the lower levels of the water column.
I have seen some small tar balls, and tiny black particulate matter coming ashore.

Happy to hear it. Local businesses relied on payments for loss tourist revenue during that season.
After all this time, I still sometimes see small dark particles washed ashore--not just in one area, but all along the beach. They don't smell bad, but litter the otherwise beautiful white sand.
