Seems to me that the difference between conservatives and liberals hinges on the idea of the proper function of government. I believe government should serve the populace. For example, health care. Why is this even a for-profit enterprise? From my liberal perspective, it is obvious that the common good requires a healthy population, and I want to live in a country that is aware enough to recognize that basic fact.
Conservatives on the other hand seem to be all about getting as much as they can for themselves. They wrap themselves up in talk about "Liberty". Sounds great, but it is really just a smokescreen for policies that favor the ruling class.

I love the fact that his name is Rubio, because most conservatives are just rubes. The joke is on them, but we all suffer as a result of their ignorance.

The purpose of government is to serve the people. Health care is the most obvious example.
Idiotic rants based upon nonsensical arguments don't change that basic fact.

This may sound far-fetched to some outside of America and to those Americans that do not see things from my perspective, but events since the election of Reagan have really grown my understanding of how the good people of Germany allowed such a horror as Hitler to thrive. We have not reached that magnitude here, but we have the beginnings well established.

Lies, propaganda, fear and hate have proliferated through our population and grown at a rate that astounds me.

Before the pre-emptive war against Iraq based on known lies began, a group of us "undesirables" would have a monthly "Spiritual Walk for Peace" silently around the bombing site of the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building (168 lives lost, committed by an American) in downtown Oklahoma City with a lead banner displaying the slogan "One bomb is too many."

One can understand how popular that slogan was to the nation that produces the majority of armaments for the world, spends on its war machine (known as peace keepers here) about the same amount as the rest of the world combined, and has the unique distinction of being the only country to drop nuclear bombs on civilians. The incredible amount of hate that was poured upon us was chilling. We were silent the whole march and only allowed a few designated spokespersons to talk to the media before and after the walks.

Petitioning the government, the media and the local population was of virtually no value. No one cared about anything but revenge for their hatred.
