Paranoia

Postby Individual » Sun Nov 28, 2010 11:15 pm

How might what we call "paranoia" be categorized as a fetter or hindrance? Is it a form of anxiety or just ignorance?

Sounds to me a bit like some descriptions of the hindrance of "uddhaccakukkucca", a restless worry about bad results of certain unskillful actions.
My recently moved Blog, containing some of my writings on the Buddha Dhamma, as well as a number of translations from classical Buddhist texts and modern authors, liturgy, etc.: .

I think paranoia is often caused by fear or anxiety and its usually delusional.

Just because you're not paranoid doesn't mean they're not out to get you.

Paranoia is a mental illness, and the Buddha explained that it is a kammic repercussion due to substance abuse in previous lives or the present life.
