Thag 1.20. Ajita - I do not fear death; nor do I long for life. I’ll lay down this body, aware and mindful.

However... say I have a random thought of say, my pet?

Is this a delusional thought because the pet is impermanent?

Thinking about an animal is not a problem

Thinking of it as YOURS - that's where the delusion kicks in.

... and are all thoughts delusional because even they are impermanent?

This all still seems very vague and not exact.

I can't understand why people have avoided stating specific examples from their own experience of exact arising (thoughts) of delusion from their own minds.

Hi Oseeker(bannedbutloggedon)

I can see how this is confusing. It is important to say about how you get rid of delusion. It is not by actively seeking out deluded thoughts- but rather seeing the Truths through Samatha and Vipassana. As long as we are caught in the grip of delusion we can never see our own mistakes. So what you need to do is to practice the path and see the Truth for yourself:- then you can compare which of your thoughts have delusion in them or not...!

Hope that makes sense!

Ignorance is not knowing.
Delusion is a measure of how far you have strayed from the Middle Path.
