Greetings

Introduce yourself to others at Dharma Wheel.

Greetings

Hi, everyone.

I am a participant from the website "next door" (dhammawheel.com). I am mostly here to look, listen, and learn, but I may ask a question from time to time.

I admire the wisdom and compassion of more Mahayana teachers than I can count, but among them are Shabkar, Shantideva, Jamgon Kongtrul the Great, Yin Shun Dao Shi (whose book The Way to Buddhahood I have recently begun to study), Je Tsong Khapa, Chatral Rinpoche, Robert Thurman, Ani Choying Dolma, and His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

Peace.

Ed

EDIT: I corrected "I am from the website 'next door,'" to "I am a participant from the website 'next door.'"

I should dispel the suffering of others because it is suffering like my own suffering. I should help others too because of their nature as beings, which is like my own being. When happiness is liked by me and others equally, what is so special about me that I strive after happiness only for myself? When fear and suffering are disliked by me and others equally, what is so special about me that I protect myself and not the other? Shantideva, Bodhi[sattva]caryavatara 8.94-96

Welcome Ed!
    How foolish you are,
grasping the letter of the text and ignoring its intention!
