Sadhu David!
One Q though....is it of any necessity to allow the chat room to be have full visibility and prominence on the main page?
Back at the sister site, their chat room is not so and perhaps like back on E-Sangha, this place could create, for the curious, a bar at the bottom of the main page, displaying only the names of users who are present there...

I thought Greg had a personal problem with big time lag in post a message in Chat. But now it has happened to me, so far about 2 minutes have passed & I see nothing appearing from my Chat-post??

After the recent upgrades, some users who have diacritics in their name have had problems logging-in.

We thought we fixed it, but apparently the error codes are still coming up. We are working on it some more.

Could the chat be removed from the DW Index page and put somewhere else?

All the best,

Geoff

Yes I do think the E-sangha chat room had some good features. One of them was as you say: if you were actually on the chat page it showed, if you left the page then your name wasn't there. Gets a bit boring doing the "Yoohoo, anyone home thing". The other thing which I don't see (it might be there?) was that the facility to have a 'private chat' within the chat room...

But otherwise, it's great that we are getting this facility together.

Hi David, why don't you use the same applet that's being used in our sister site? It's a little less user friendly but it is also much more complete, IMO.

Hi DN,

Yes, that is a good idea.

The delays in some of the improvements are because I have to wait for when my haxor son gets time.

He is the expert at these techie thingies, but is busy at the university.

I can do some things, but in most cases I wait for him because if I mess it up, it might remain messed-up for a long time.

Let's keep discussions civil and moreover criticism should be constructive and helpful, not arrogant slander.

Due to requests from members here and in PMs and elsewhere, the chat room is removed from the index page. The link is showing near the bottom of the home page to the chat room.
