How to create a monster, baby!
How to create a monster, baby!
This is only meant as a joke, do not take anything I've written here seriously. It's meant as humor!
How to create an imaginary friend.
Do this at your own risk, this is a very powerful habit energy that can take on a life of it's own. It can even become detrimental to your own mental health.
So how do we create an imaginary being?
Habit.
First give it a name, then begin talking to your friend every-day. The more you talk to him/her, the more deeply ingrained the habit becomes.
Your imaginary friend will not talk back. Anything that it says is likely your own mind saying something.
But continue talking to it, and having conversations anyway. Your friend may begin appearing in your dreams. This is a good sign.
After many months to years, your friend may begin speaking to you. At first it's very difficult to hear your friend, because the mind has a bad habit of misinterpreting the source of a stimulus, and assigning it a source.
How do you know when your friend is actually talking? First you need to learn how to listen. You need to differentiate your own thoughts from his, and from your minds background noise.
Meditation is very helpful in this area. Mindfulness will help out here.
A true thought from your friend will be without a 'source', it will have no context within the rest of your thoughts. It will make no sense or have any context in the background chatter, nor any sense or have any context in your own stream of thoughts.
That is your friend. as you become better at doing this, you will begin being able to have whole conversations with your friend. Eventually your friend will develop it's own 'ego', in a sense..
For example: When you think there a very definitive 'feeling' of "I am talking", the same will happen with your friend. Congratulations, you have successfully developed a second ego,
Now wherever you go, you'll never be lonely. However, your new ego is not under your control, he has his own mind, desires and will. Let's hope you get along.

If I could play the piano, or memorized a poem, would my friend be able to play the piano or recite the poem ?
Re: How to create a monster, baby!
Yes. It can do anything you can do. Your imaginary friend is as 'real', or 'unreal' as you are. It's a simple trick. The mind is a very powerful thing, we just never use it to it's full potential.
Your imaginary friend is simply a habit of seeing a solid person from which ideas, thoughts, etc come from. It's the exactly same process your own ego utilizes. The cool part about having an imaginary friend is you can watch the process occur as it's happening. With your own sense of self -- you can't see it. "like trying to look at your own head".
But with an imaginary friend, you can observe what your mind is doing to create and maintain this illusion of a 'person'.
Or you can just talk to it and have it be your friend.
Again thought, I would stress even trying this would be enormously unhealthy for most people, the psyche is easily damaged when you mess around with it's functioning.

When I was a kid, I had an imaginary friend named Red. He looked sort of like a cowboy, sort of, but RED, like he was made out of old neon light and not matter. I visualized him very clearly all the time. He was the silent type.
I'm a middle aged man and I still see that grumpy old fart from time to time.

This sounds like magic, ie creating a thoughtform.

Tulpa's often cause trouble once they develop consciousnesses or become inhabited by something unpleasant. There is a playground for the foolish on reddit I believe. http://m.vice.com/en_uk/read/tulpamancy ... ulture-892" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Sure it seems like magic, people who are good at them usually call them parlor tricks. But there are just illusions. Unhealthy ones at that.Motova wrote:This sounds like magic, ie creating a thoughtform.

Btw, Mine's is Mikeal. He was the first one, and most well.. vocal.
They are nothing But trouble, and thus why I said even trying it is dangerous. It can make you go insane. They also have legitimate purposes, or so I've been told..Nemo wrote:Tulpa's often cause trouble once they develop consciousnesses or become inhabited by something unpleasant. Here's a concrete example of what Nemo's describing.
"I raised my hand up high... Boognish was looking onward..."
http://www.americansongwriter.com/2014/ ... n-freeman/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; How do you feel about that culture in your music? Is Boognish still a thing to you? Or are those days gone?
No. No no no. That’s a good question. I still very much believe in the Boognish. It’s amazing. The whole thing was kinda cosmic. We created this deity, Mickey and I, in 1986. And we called it the Boognish, and that was our little dude. But over the years, and I really believe this stuff, so many people, whether they had it tattooed or whatever. I set the groundwork that it was a demon and a god. Yin and yang. The forces of good and darkness in all the universe. That’s what the Boognish represents. He’s also a total ******. I blame him for a lot of things. The more I try to get away from the Boognish deity, the worse he’s going to make it for me, if I ever really try to ignore that he exist. And I know Mickey’s the same way. So no, the Boognish was not just some little fanciful thing that I’m above now. The Boognish is very real, and it will haunt me, and control me for the rest of my life. I always have to beware of it, or I will pay the price.
"I raised my hand up high... Boognish was looking onward..."
Re: How to create a monster, baby!
So why would you want to create something that is unhealthy, a monster and trouble? Seems to me there is enough of that sh*t going around without having to make some more. And this Tulpumancy thing sounds like an attempt to turn mental illness into a fad. I wonder how many people will be left with chronic mental disturbances to haunt them for the rest of their lives, as a result of silly psychological games/self-experimentation?

Greg you're the psychologist, why don't you give some general information on how to eliminate one of these "tulpas"?Sherab Dorje wrote:So why would you want to create something that is unhealthy, a monster and trouble? Re: How to create a monster, baby!
How is tulpa creation different from deity generation or guru visualisation?
Re: How to create a monster, baby!
The deities are intrinsic and more real than you. It is more invocation than emanation. To them you are the tulpa. You are recollecting your true nature. Some deities have practices for reabsorbing tulpas.
Most people's will is much too weak to create a tulpa. When the tulpa starts acting out sexually it is usually a sign they are being inhabited by something that is using it to feed.

Re: How to create a monster, baby!
Deities and gurus are wisdom manifest. They are enlightened beings. They are not reified figments of one's deluded imagination. They are embodiments of one's enlightened nature. They are neither unhealthy, nor monsters (though one would be excused for, on first sight, considering the wrathful deities as monsters), nor do they create problems. Quite the contrary. Tulpas are just extensions/projections of ones ignorance.
I mean, if you read the article linked to you can quite clearly see the desperately ignorant nature of this phenomenon:
I would say that the best way to get rid of tulpas is through real-time face-to-face socialising. When you have real friends you don't need imaginary ones.

That's some pretty sad sh*t for adults to be engaging in, wouldn't you say?Tulpas remained the preserve of occultists until 2009, when the subject appeared on the discussion boards of 4chan. A few anonymous members started to experiment with creating tulpas. Things snowballed in 2012 when adult fans of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic – known as “bronies” to anyone who's been near a computer for the past three years – caught on. They created a new forum on Reddit and crafted tulpas based on their favourite characters from the show.

Are we allowed to answer to your question honestly without having our posts deleted or our membership suspended ?
Personally I think imaginary Tulpas or ego creations seem pretty unhealthy but I'm not an expert. Heck I only just learnt such things are possible, thanks to Jesse's posts, and I find it very interesting.
Re: How to create a monster, baby!
What if your tulpa gets pissed at you and becomes uncontrollable? What if you get older and realize you don't want a tulpa sharing your mind but you don't know how to get rid of it?
Seems dangerous to me. Reminds of the story of Frankenstein where the Monster ruins and eventually kills its creator.

Re: How to create a monster, baby!
With sufficient paranoia, anything is possible. Our imaginations feed on fear.
Also, it is through being unaware of aspects of our own psyche that these apparent entities arise.
Without fear and unawareness, our minds are free of these kinds of phenomena.

Re: How to create a monster, baby!
Then you have what's called schizophrenia. Tuplas are not the only form of this phenomena. Many people are born otherwise healthy and yet have these voices. You can find more information here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hearing_Voices_Movement" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Mkoll wrote:What if your tulpa gets pissed at you and becomes uncontrollable? In my case, mine developed all on it's own, I didn't know what a 'tulpa' was until someone posted about them in this thread. I just decided to examine what was going on in my own mind and figure out how it worked.
Turns out others have done the same.
And I agree, and have stated multiple times it's dangerous and unhealthy.
Also it's very hard to get into mystical parts of reality / the mind without coming dangerously close to mental health problems, because in many ways they are similar. At least in modern times. imho we may have lost a bit of something by dismissing these parts of the mind and their vast potential to do these things.. and thus is one of the reasons mental health is so hard to treat. Now if our physicians studied these types of phenomena in depth, maybe they would have created methods for dealing with them?
Just to exemplify my example, If a well known teacher and well agreed upon enlightened one told his students he saw padmasambhava appear before him, and held a conversation with him in which he received a dharma teaching, would we be right to think he should be put in a mental institution?
Who's to say.

Consider yourself to be so lucky to have friends to socialize with. In all your good karma you must of forgotten most people aren't always that fortunate. How kind of you to look down on them and their "sad sh*t".That's some pretty sad sh*t for adults to be engaging in, wouldn't you say?
