A Heartfelt Devotional Prayer to the Divine Feminine

Post by wisdom »

Divine and all encompassing feminine
You tempt me to test me
Destroy me to create me
Set me on fire to cool me
And drown me in a rain
That en-flames my mind and body...

When I was an itenerant Sadhu
Wandering without purpose
Taking pleasure with all and sundry
You kept me fed on precious nectar
Kept me warm with your constant embrace
Brightened my mind with your eternal wisdom...

When I was a lonely Yogi
High in a cold mountain
Practicing harsh austerities
You kept me fed on precious nectar
Kept me warm with your constant embrace
Brightened my mind with your eternal wisdom...

When I was a devoted disciple
Practicing ardently and daily
Following every word and action of the Guru
You kept me fed on precious nectar
Kept me warm with your constant embrace
Brightened my mind with your eternal wisdom...

When I was a confused seeker
Following an ignorant and egocentric "Guru"
Doing whatever I could to attain enlightenment
You took me into your home
Gave me precious nectar
And with your constant embrace, brightened my mind...

You, eternal Goddess
Great Mother, vast and spacious
Precious dakini, revealing truth
Stirring the hearts light
With wisdom, love and devotion
All your forms are worthy of respect!

As for me, I am an ignorant beggar
Not recognizing you I cast you into the street
Oh Sophia! I am so sorry!
Kali! Please have mercy on me!
Divine Shekinah! I did not know it was you!
Dakinis! Please forgive my stupidity!

Time after time
Life after life
Experience after experience
You alone have been there with me
You alone have never left my side even for a single moment
Who has ever had a better companion than that?

You are radiant and empty light form
Giving yourself to all and sundry for their benefit
They revile you and call you whore
With infinite compassion you bring joy to all
Though they hate you, spitting on you
Like a dog they beat you, and put you into the streets!

Primordial wisdom, light of the ancients
You reveal yourself to everyone
But they are blindfolded
You have given everything to everyone
But they still ask for more
How can they be caused to see your radiance?

I would tear off strips of skin one by one
Pouring salt into the wound
While flies lay maggot eggs in the holes
And mosquitos feast on the banquet of my blood
If it meant the liberation of sentient beings
Will you not hear my prayer for their sake?

You arise from my heart
Painting a radiant picture
Of primordial wisdom-light
Bringing the mind to understanding
Purifying every timelessly unfolding moment
Emanating constant joy even during a storm!

The wise men become like skillful mothers of the world
The wise women become your perfect timeless embodiement
The body is healed of its tendency towards inertia
The energy is healed of its narrow confinement
The mind is healed of its focus on past, present and future
All of this is possible because of you!

You are inseperable from every moment
Emracing us so closely we cannot see you
Eternal consort of ineffable timeless reality
Whose nature manifests as bright, rainbow light
Giving freely to all and sundry
The ultimate exemplar of fearless compassionate activity!

What more can be said of you?
You are the Greatest of the Great
You are the Mightiest of the Mighty
Who can overcome you, who is power itself?
Who can outsmart you, who is wisdom itself?
None, you abide as and beyond everything!

In you alone is refuge given!

A LA LA!
HO!
OM A HUM
