KKBC will be celebrating the anniversaries of Marpa
Chökyi Lodro (1012–1097) and Milarepa (1040–1123). For all
Buddhist, especially for the Kagyud tradition, Marpa and
Milarepa are the foremost forefathers of our tradition. Marpa
the Translator transmitted many Buddhist teachings from India to
Tibet. He travelled to India and Nepal seeking teachings from
great masters such as Naropa.Upon his return to Tibet, Marpa
spent many years translating and transmitting the Buddhist
scriptures.
