Dear Brothers and Sisters in the Dharma,

In the year 2001, His Eminence the Late Drubwang Konchok Norbu Rinpoche of the Drikung Kagyu lineage, came to Singapore and initiated the first 100 Million Mani Recitation Retreat. Drubwang Rinpoche led more than 400 participants to chant “Om Mani Padme Hung”, the six-syllable heart mantra of the Great Compassionate Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (Guan Shi Yin Pu Sa) and accomplished the retreat in 10 days. All the participants were immersed with great joy and deeply inspired by this simple and yet powerful practice. Many directly felt the blessing of Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattvas, which warmed their hearts and transformed their lives. A lot experienced a new level of insight and strengthened their faith in the Buddha Dharma. Many good and positive conditions had also appeared in their lives.

With the blessing of the Triple Gems and also your very kind support, the Mani Retreat had since been held annually with great success. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you who had previously participated in this precious retreat. Your presence had helped to provide a strong encouragement to each other, especially to the organisers. We sincerely hope that you will once again continue to give your time and effort in this meaningful practice and together complete the accumulation of the 100 million mantras in this upcoming 4 days Mani retreat.

The merit accumulated will be dedicated for world peace, freedom from sickness and diseases. The world now is filled with a lot of uncertainty and changes. The Mani practice is very helpful in generating a calming effect to the surrounding environment, bringing back the balance in the ecological system and helping to heal the Earth. From within our heart, let us spread this energy of compassion and kindness throughout space, as we chant “Om Mani Padme Hung” and make aspiration that all the beings enjoy happiness and be free from suffering. As we chant the Mani mantra wholeheartedly, the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas will rejoice in our effort and give their blessing. The Devas and Dharma protectors will be with us days and nights, and many of the beings whom we have connection with, especially those suffering in the lower realms, will soon be liberated and attain a good rebirth.
