The Nyingma Palyul Retreat Center, Yangleshod, Pharping, Nepal and Ati Foundation, Bhutan are organizing a Dungdrup (major prayer ceremony) for 6 days between August 3 (Chökhor Duchen, the first turning of the wheel of Dharma) - and August 8 (Padmasambhava performs miracles on the Ganges inspiring devotion among non-Buddhists), 2011 at Kurjey Lhakhang, Bumthang, Bhutan. The Bumthang Kurjey is an extremely sacred place where Guru Rinpoche cast his body print (kurjey).
During this time, there will be one thousand people each day, including khenpos, tulkus, monks, Khen Rinpoche with Prime Minister Jigmi Yoezer Thinleynuns and lay people, who will be reciting 100 million Guru Mantras. At the completion of the Dungdrup 100,000 tsogs and 100,000 butter lamp offerings will be made.
The main objective of this prayer ceremony is to fulfill the wishes of the late Kyabje Penor Rinpoche to benefit all sentient beings. The purpose is to pacify hunger, drought, famine, disease, warfare and the four elements in the world and to bring joy and happiness everywhere, especially to Bhutan and its people. In short, the goal is to release all sentient beings from the suffering of samsara and bring them to the peace and happiness of nirvana.
