Thailand Floods

Postby forestmat » Mon Nov 07, 2011 4:19 am

Like many in the country, my family and I have been forced out of our home which is now completely flooded with as much as two metres of filthy, stinking, toxic floodwater.

Although the centre of the city is still dry, much of the Northern and Western suburbs (our area) are suffering badly.

Trying to continue practice letting go, as my mind constantly thinks of all the possessions lost, and the inevitable damage caused.

I joined a rescue team to deliver food and water to Nonthaburi residents who were stranded, just prior to our house being submerged, this is what it looked like then...

Hello forestmat,

I am so sorry to hear and see of the flooding of your home. Queensland had floods at the beginning of this year, with friends of mine losing their homes and insurance companies refusing on technical grounds to pay them anything. The clean-up, when it came, saw many many volunteers assisting residents. The volunteers were called ''The Mud Army'' and the action of helping those who had been affected brought the whole community together.

Are you and your family with other relatives, or in substitute accommodation? Please be vigilant about health matters - particularly mosquito repellant and hand washing - and try to use water purifyers.

Thinking of you with metta,
Chris
