according to the Wisdom Chapter of the Bodhicaryavatara»
Winter Retreat with Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche
26-31 December 2012
In an old, secluded farmhouse surrounded by frost-covered fields, Patrul Rinpoche will share the secrets of an ancient Buddhist philosophy over two millennia old. Participants will learn how to make their lives more joyful and how to make others happy. They will also get a chance to meet many interesting people from around the world, sample various exotic dishes and celebrate New Year’s Eve together.
This is the setting in which Patrul Rinpoche has decided to continue his commentary on the Bodhicaryavatara or "The Bodhisattva way of life". Rinpoche has been teaching this profound and inspiring text since 1998. The ninth chapter is dedicated to wisdom, the sixth paramita, and is not often taught. It is therefore a very rare opportunity to which everyone is most welcome.
During this retreat, the ninth chapter—and in particular emptiness—will be extensively explained so that participants can become acquainted with this subject central to Buddhism. They will have the opportunity to ask questions to clarify their understanding, and meditate in the presence of an authentic teacher.
About this retreat, Rinpoche has said:
Relying on Buddha's teaching, sure, you can get different experiences: worldly experience and spiritual. If we have these both experiences, we will get a perfect base for our daily activity. If we have good experience in our daily activity, then we can manage easily our life, easily understand how to handle our life, how to handle with our family in order to make peace, love, solidarity, and harmony.
The retreat will take place in our international study and retreat centre, Dharma City, between Christmas and New Year. The course will be given in English and translated into French and other languages if requested at the time of enrolment and if an interpreter is available.
