Called the The Union of the Sun and the Moon, Yantra Yoga is one of the oldest recorded systems of yoga in the world. Practiced in Tibet since the 8th century, this uninterrupted lineage was brought to the West by ChÃ¶gyal Namkhai Norbu in the early 1970's.
Yantra Yoga is a dynamic method to integrate the essence of Dzogchen or Ati with our body, voice and mind. By synchronizing positions and movements with the breath, vital energy is coordinated and harmonized, thereby enhancing physical health and allowing the mind to become calm and clear. As we experience this deepening sense of physical, energetic and mental integration, we have the possibility to discover true relaxation, well-being, and presence.
In this weekend course, we will focus on complete breathing and the practices of the Nine Purification Breathings, and the Eight Movements or Lunsang, the purifying of the prana. Emphasis will be on cultivating presence and awareness while developing and deepening our understanding and experience of the breath.
This course is geared to all kinds of people in all kinds of physical conditions. We can modify positions and work with each individual according to their circumstance and capacity.
This course is the foundation for further study and practice of Yantra Yoga. Beginners as well as experienced Yantra practitioners who wish to refresh and refine their practice are welcome!
What to Bring:
Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.
Yoga Mats are available at the Center, and you are also welcome to bring your own.
Naomi Zeitz is a long time student of Chogyal Namkhai Norbu, whom she met at Columbia University in NYC in 1987. She is an authorized second level instructor and has been teaching Yantra Yoga since 2008. Naomi specializes in working with people in all types of physical conditions and presents Yantra Yoga as a vehicle for better health and deep relaxation in daily life.
