Khyentse Yeshe Teachings and My Reincarnation Theatrical Tour, Fall 2011

This Fall Khyentse Yeshe will be coming to North America for several wonderful opportunities! My Reincarnation, the epic father-son drama about Khyentse and his father Chögyal Namkhai Norbu, is showing in Amherst and premiering in NYC and LA theaters. Khyentse will be attending the NYC screenings to offer question and answer sessions for viewers. In conjunction with these screenings Khyentse will be offering two formal teachings. The first will be a course at Amherst College on the Hevajra Tantra and the second will be a Dzogchen Teaching Retreat held at Tibet House in NYC.

It was on public broadcasting here. Very interesting. Anyone else see it? It was intriguing to see the interaction between father and son. Also, it did raise some questions to me, such as, how come Rinpoche takes so many western medicine when he instituted a whole Tibetan Medicine College? How can a person of Rinpoche's capabilities have delusions? I had more when I watched it, but they are all forgotten. I also felt kind of sorry for Yeshe Khyentse. Very interesting experience watching it as it wasn't some great praise but rather an honest portrayal. Thanks to the makers and sponsors and Rinpoche of course for allowing people so close to his life.

is it a musical? I can't stand musicals.
Profile Picture: "The Foaming Monk"
The Chinese characters are Fo (buddha) and Ming (bright). The image is of a student of Buddhism, who, imagining himself to be a monk, and not understanding the true meaning of the words takes the sound of the words literally. Likewise, People on web forums sometime seem to be foaming at the mouth.

Ha, no, it isn't a muscical. It is a very interesting documentary. Very real it seems. The good and the bad is portrayed.

I think it has to do with the fact that Rinpoche adopted a Western diet and this caused the typical problems associated with that diet. This is speculation on my part, but that would be my guess.

Thanks Ticking Man,

That is an interesting idea. However, that would imply that Tibetan medicine only works for people with a Tibetan diet. I don't know anything about TM but I don't think that is supposed to be the case.

The modern Western diet is a very new phenomenon and I do not believe there is anything out there that is designed to combat diseases caused by the diet like Western medicine.

The film opens theatrically in New York and Los Angeles on October 28, then rolls out nationwide.

NEW YORK
Cinema Village
22 East 12th Street, New York
http://www.cinemavillage.com or 212-924-3363

Director Jennifer Fox's signature intimacy allows privileged access into the inner circle of a high Tibetan master’s life – to directly experience how his spiritual teachings infiltrate his smallest everyday activities. And you see firsthand how the father guides his student and son in the most skilled – and sometimes frustrating way – to realize and awaken to his own potential.

See the trailer at http://www.myreincarnationfilm.com/film/trailer.

The cinema launch is accompanied by an exciting new “Share Your Story” online campaign to engage people in the themes of the film: http://www.myreincarnationfilm/shareyourstory. It’s co-presented with the Tibet House, the Tibet Fund and Interdependence Project.

It will air on the award-winning PBS series POV in 2012, following its theatrical tour.

MY REINCARNATION Precious Auction Countdown Now!

Dear Vajra Brothers and Sisters,

These last days, I was in beautiful Bucharest at One World Romania, where they were doing a retrospective of my work and premiering MY REINCARNATION. For those of you have not been to Romania, be prepared for a rare and moving experience. I was able to meet with our fellow Romanian Practitioners to do a practice before the film screened for Ayu Kandro's Anniversary. We made several announcements before and after the film screened about Rinpoche's retreat in August on the black Sea at Merigar East and handed out beautiful fliers. In the post film discussion, I heard lots of enthusiastic words from the audience about heading to meet Rinpoche this summer. Sunday I flew away and later in the week, I head for Edinburgh to show my MY REINCARNATION at the Film House Cinema this Friday night.

Message from Director and Co-producer Jennifer Fox:

Dear Vajra Brothers and Sisters,

I am here to report that we have raised $16,728 towards the extended PR and Outreach Campaign for the MY REINCARNATION US Public Television Broadcast in June 2012. To all of you out there who have donated or helped, thank you for your support and encouragement.

As a token of our gratitude, we have just edited this new Outtake From the Film #7 (O.F.F.), "What Does Mandala Mean?" (1989). Here Rinpoche explores the library at the University of Naples, where he teaches. He uncovers an old Buddhist text and explains the meaning of the word, Mandala, in Tibetan Buddhism. Enjoy! Click to Watch: http://www.vimeo.com/39714595

MY REINCARNATION is auspiciously airing right before Rinpoche begins his USA Teaching Tour in June 2012. Rinpoche will be able to do interviews directly if we can organize the press in a way that is not taxing to his health or his schedule. It would be a horrible missed opportunity if the American Press did not get a chance to interview Chögyal Namkhai Norbu directly – one of the last living Tibet-Trained Buddhist Masters in the West. How amazing it would be to have Rinpoche speak on American TV and Radio!
But the clock is ticking! We still have a little more than $33,000 to raise to achieve our minimum goal! Here are some of the ways you can help support the Outreach and PR for the US Television Premiere of MY REINCARNATION: (Please note if you have any problem with any links – you can find everything on our website at http://www.myreincarnationfiilm.com.)
