11-14 Ocr HE Jetsun Kushok White Tara & Medicine Buddha

Post by kirtu »

October 11-14th, 2013, Sea To Sky Retreat Centre
Whistler, B.C., Canada

Her Eminence Jetsun Kushok will bestow the empowerments of White Tara and Medicine Buddha and will offer teachings in this long weekend (Canadian Thanksgiving) program at Sea to Sky Retreat Centre. There's no special pre-requisite or commitment associated with these empowerments. The retreat is open for all to attend.

Her Eminence Jetsun Kushok Chimey Luding Rinpoche

Her Eminence Jetsun Kushok Chimey Luding Rinpoche, frequently referred to as Jetsun Kushok or Jetsunma, is the spiritual director of Sakya Tsechen Thubten Ling in Richmond BC. She is the sister of His Holiness Sakya Trizin. Both His Holiness and Jetsun Kushok were taught and guided by leading masters of the Sakya tradition. Jetsunma started her training at six, began teaching at eleven and became a fully empowered lineage holder at eighteen.

In the whole of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition Jetsun Kushok is one of only a few female lineage-holders and is one of three known female teachers to have transmitted the precious Lamdre (path and its results) teachings of the Sakya tradition. In 1971, Jetsun Kushokand her family moved to Canada where she worked and cared for her family. At the request of His Holiness Jetsunma later began to give teachings and nowadays teaches at her Centre in Richmond and at other dharma centres around the world.

White Tara Empowerment

Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion, manifested as Arya Tara upon seeing the misery and suffering of the confused beings in the world. Tara is the Swift Saviouress whose vow of compassion is to respond immediately to the invocation and prayers of those in need. Meditating on her as the embodiment of all enlightened qualities enables us to transform ordinary emotions and concepts into pure intention and accomplish the skillful means to benefit others. White Tara is the embodiment of long life and wisdom. She is particularly known for her maternal compassion which protects us from all kinds of aliments and obstacles and heals all beings who are hurt or wounded, either physically or psychically.

Medicine Buddha Empowerment

The practice of Medicine Buddha, the Supreme Healer (or Sangye Menla in Tibetan) is not only a very powerful method for healing and increasing healing powers both for oneself and others, but also for overcoming the inner sickness of attachment, hatred, and ignorance. Thus to meditate on the Medicine Buddha can help decrease physical and mental illness and suffering. The Medicine Buddha mantra is held to be extremely powerful for healing physical illnesses and for the purification of negative karma.

“Where do atomic bombs come from?”
Zen Master Seung Sahn said, “That’s simple. Atomic bombs come from the mind that likes this and doesn’t like that.”

"Even if you practice only for an hour a day with faith and inspiration, good qualities will steadily increase. Regular practice makes it easy to transform your mind. From seeing only relative truth, you will eventually reach a profound certainty in the meaning of absolute truth."
Kyabje Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche.

"Only you can make your mind beautiful."
