Upcoming Rinzai Zen events: Chicago

1. June 1-2: Zazenkai (a short overnight retreat) at Daiyuzenji in Chicago (http://www.daiyuzenji.org).

2. Kizan Dogen (Hosokawa) Roshi, a dharma heir of the late Omori Sogen Roshi and former shike and kancho of Daihonzan Chozen-ji in Hawaii, will teach and lecture in Chicago at Daiyuzenji. All are welcome to the following public events:

Thursday 6/27: Zen Lecture (topic TBA), 7pm.

Sunday 6/30: General training, instruction and question-answer. 8:30 - 11am. A group brunch will follow at a nearby restaurant.

Hosokawa Roshi is the translator of An Introduction to Zen Training [Sanzen Nyumon], and the author of Omori Sogen: Art of a Zen Master. For more information on him and his line, please see http://www.rinzaizen.org/History.html

3. August 1-4: Sesshin at Daiyuzenji in Chicago.

Nowadays there is much talk about the sublime and the profound, or conversely criticism of the Two Vehicles, belittling their authority. [Proponents of] the partial, the round, the exoteric and the esoteric schools contend with each other, yet they have not even accomplished the confirmation of the Two Vehicles, let alone that of the Bodhisattva Vehicle.
