I'm starting to wonder if Buddhist explanations of phenomena isn't complex Spiritual Metaphysics....

Could you perhaps give an indication of what that implies, in your thinking?

Thanks.

It would simply be 'spiritual science' explaining complex stuff outside of the Buddhist paradigm/context.

'Spiritual' theory is associated with atman/soul, buddhist theory is associated with the consciousness.

So, the idea is if "Buddhist explanations of phenomena isn't [aren't] explaining complex stuff outside of the Buddhist paradigm/context"?

If the explanations are of things "outside of the Buddhist paradigm/context", then, by definition, the explanations are not 'Buddhist' explanations.

If you are actually asking "Do 'Buddhist explanations' = 'spiritual metaphysics'" (and you do not equate 'spirit' with 'eternal individual self'), then the short answer is: Yes.
