the 4th Jhana and Carl Jung

In his work Carl Jung spoke about the "colective unconsciosness" that all humans are linked to. He theorised that if one could tap into this so called colective unconsciusness one could control this reality as he would in a lucid dream.
In my opinion this sounds like what buddhist and yogis describe through the iddhis/siddhis achieved through the 4th jhana. Such supernormal powers as levitating become invisible and so on.
Does anyone now of any contemporary teacher that speaks/teaches of such techniques of meditation?

this collective mind/root essence shared in common is what skilled yogis who have not yet realized buddhist selflessness/emptiness see when they purify their minds using concentration.

it amounts to saying that the deepest nature of you is something separate from your mind and your body -- in other words asserting an independent self, something like a soul
as the buddha uniquely explained, the person (you) is neither independent from the parts (ie mind and body) nor the same as the parts.
this is far more meaningful than turning invisible, which even someone on the 2nd dhyana can do

I'm sure Jungian meditation teachers are out there if you look for them.

If you're interested in the jhanas, take a look at the book The Path of Purification (original title: Visuddhimagga). You may also wish to ask around at the DhammaWheel board: http://www.dhammawheel.com" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
