Has anyone heard of this college?

Its located in the city I live in, so I'm considering looking into classes there. If anyone knows anything about how its perceived, whether or not its considered respectable, lineages its associated with, and so forth, please let me know. Especially if anyone has attended or knows anyone who has. It seems like it might be good to give me a solid foundation in Buddhist philosophy and Tibetan Language.

Maitripa is legit.
BTW, doesn't really matter, but
Osel Hitta Torres is the reincarnation of Lama Yeshe. Yangsi Rinpoche is the reincarnation of another great master.

The only thing that I know to tell you about this Maitreya College is that I've heard they have an extremely long waiting list.

It is an unaccredited school affiliated with the FPMT, the network of Gelugpa dharma centers founded by Lama Yeshe and Lama Zopa. Like many such schools, they teach Tibetan language, Buddhist philosophy, and meditation. (Their website also emphasizes "karma yoga," i.e. chores and/or community service.) The approach is probably not be strictly academic (although at least one academic is involved), but something more like a theological seminary. By all means, take some classes and see what you think of it--then update its Wikipedia entry so that we may have the benefit of your experience!
