If there are books about Buddhism in the library, you should read them.

I live in a very small, very christian village with a very small library and even we have books on Buddhism, so yours should have some. There should also be books on science as well.

Because we do not know what will happen tomorrow, it's best to start practising today. Many schools believe it's possible to become enlightened right here, right now. Then you'd no longer suffer.

Check your local library. Most libraries these days are available on-line. Check them out.

You can search the library catalogue online. Or ask a librarian if you need help finding anything.

Like Alfredo said, you look on-line to see what they have. You may even be able to reserve the book so that no-one else gets it before you manage to get to the library

Yes, libraries will have books on Buddhism and science. Do you know your local branch? Also, as others here have said, libraries have computers with Internet that the public can use for free. I take it you don't have your own computer? That's not a problem-- libraries are a great resource all around. Barnes & Nobles definitely has a religion section, as do other bookstores. You might even meet someone in the aisle who you can learn from! Once I went into the new-age section and had a long conversation with a woman about realms and tarot cards...

If your father asks you for your phone, give it to him unless you believe it is the only way for you to access dharma (my guess is it's not). You seem terribly attached to your phone, and while I understand most teenagers are (hey, I am!), you need to learn to not crave the temporary pleasure it grants you. You need to master this if you wish to become a monk.

As for the potentiality of him becoming violent, this will greatly diminish if you do not fight him. Use kind, equanimous words when you speak to him and don't pick a fight.

I wish you well.

Also check out a dictionary and an English grammar book from the library; you cannot spell and seem functionally illiterate.

And you want to be a buddhist? I suggest you try Roman Catholicism where the poor and the meek and the unlettered get the better portion. It's not that way in Buddhism, you have to be strong and see things as they are without the sugar-coating. Chinese Buddhists will laugh at you right now as uneducated as you are.

More like they'll just recognize a teenager...
But nice writing is a good thing, for sure.

Tiger,
your intentions are pure.... listen to all the people who have supported you... feel it too. It's not easy at your age for sure. You have much to learn and enjoy along the way.... then you can become a real monk if that is truly your calling. Meanwhile, look at how you can put yourself in harmony with what is happening and how you can be kind when you are hurt. Many people have suggested this in various ways. When you are ready, try to listen to the love coming your way. Sweetheart, make no demands on yourself or others... that is the practice. Please find someone you trust to talk with. (hey, it's just me, but I'd say, cut and paste all these responses from all the thread and keep them.... if you don't connect to them yet, you may in the future. Just know, people care for you but it is your journey.

Blessings on the journey

The Buddhist way is not to defend. The Buddhist way is to hand over the phone freely.

To hand over your phone because it is the Buddhist way, is nothing more than handing over your phone according to a false imitation of what Buddhists do.

To follow a true Buddhist path, it must come from your natural inclination... accept no substitutes! Otherwise, be a good Buddha and don't hand it over.

no easy answers, but be kind and skillful... it will serve you well. and for god's sake explore what Buddhism really is!!

Buddhism is the open hand, and nothing more. If you cannot open the hand and offer the phone freely, well, then do what everyone else does...
