So I am currently in deployed and am in an area that doesn't have access to a buddhist center and have a ton of questions. I don't have a teacher. I just want to know where to start. I have done a ton of reading on the internet, was stationed in Korea, and am eager to learn. I feel like the internet has a lot of good information but weeding through it is making things very hard and frustrating. PLEASE HELP!!!!

I like www.Buddhanet.net , it is a great clearinghouse of info for the beginner.

Are you drawn to a specific tradition? Or is it all foreign to you?

Being in Korea I was drawn to Zen and have been reading a lot about it. The website I looked at (corny as it seemshttp://www.howtopracticezen.com/newbeginningzen.html) talked a lot about present moment awareness meditation. It was very easy to follow and gave good information.

Lots of material relevant to an American reader with an interest in Korean Zen here:

http://www.kwanumzen.org/teachers-and-t ... g-library/

keep scrolling & clicking through the pages, there's a lot of material there.
