Computer Help

Postby Cittasanto » Sun Mar 04, 2012 6:31 pm

OK today I had a lovely walk through a glen and took loads of photos, just finished editing them, deleting the blury ones... then moving them to another file cut them and they disapeared? can not paste tried undo everything where the hell have they gone?

any help?

He who knows only his own side of the case knows little of that. His reasons may be good, and no one may have been able to refute them.
But if he is equally unable to refute the reasons on the opposite side, if he does not so much as know what they are, he has no ground for preferring either opinion …
...
He must be able to hear them from persons who actually believe them … he must know them in their most plausible and persuasive form.

Try the search function on the initial menu. Look for files of the photo type (.jpg or .gif or maybe others that I don't remember right now).
He turns his mind away from those phenomena, and having done so, inclines his mind to the property of deathlessness: 'This is peace, this is exquisite — the resolution of all fabrications; the relinquishment of all acquisitions; the ending of craving; dispassion; cessation; Unbinding.'
(Jhana Sutta - Thanissaro Bhikkhu translation)

When you initiated the "move" function, were you moving them from a flash drive to your hard disk?

I have had at least two occasions that I can recall where doing "move" operations off of a flash drive resulted in mass data loss...

Just wondered... doesn't really help in this instance unless you have purchased a utility that will let you undelete files from your device (AND you haven't written anything else to the device already), but if this was the case, a using the copy / paste operations and then deleting the files after ensuring a proper copy would prevent such an incident in the future.

Good luck, friend...
