Om La symbol and it's meaning.

I hope to find you all well! I've seen this serveral places, the Om La sound and it's sanskrit representation. Would anybody be able to tell me what It's meaning is, what it's used for? I can't remember where I heard it but I think it was used in a purification ceremony, and had the Zhunti Mantra chanted at the symbol. Happy Holidays!
