Heres my two cents on this:
The evil we see in woman, is the evil we see within us. Woman can only tempt the one who cannot control his passions and lust. Woman can only distract the one who cannot tame his mind. She can be a devil for them that are blind, or a redeemer for them who see.
Whatever Buddha taught, he taught in order to free the mind of the person he was speaking to. The Buddha had no views and no opinions of his own. When Buddha taught that woman was evil, the Buddha taught that according to the needs and nature of his disciple. That Buddha supported misogyny is a hilarious idea. Words are just words. Real reasoning can see these things clearly.
Then theres always Manjushri, who is depicted as both male and female.
