Mystical sex doesn't = tantra, at least not from a Buddhist POV.

Hindu tantra also does NOT equal sex. Sex is actually an auxiliary type practice in only certain extreme Kaula traditions. Sex is not even one of the defining features of tantra. I have several academic books on it right in front of me.

Tantra is about mantra, yantra, chakra, mandala etc. A hindu temple is constructed and operated according to tantra.

Making a lot of assumptions here about a complete stranger. I've been practicing Buddhism since I was a kid, because I could see as a kid that Christianity was just adult make-believe. I'm interested in the history of Kundalini practices, mystical practices across religions, and "sacred sex" practices in the religions where those are found. If you're not interested in those things, you can pass on this thread. What happened to the politeness this forum is known for? Doesn't the intro to this thread say, "Be nice to each other"? Is that for real? Or are "crazy widsom" practitioners exempt?

You should also research the african !Kung tribe, the trances of their healing ceremonies arouse a powerful energy (they call num) up the back that explodes at the head and alters their perception, enabling them to see their ancestors and to transmit healing energy through their own sweat. It always reminded me of cultivated kundalini awakening, though the method of arousing it is through dance and singing.
