In the
Vajrasamadhi Sutra and Wonhyo's commentary on it (published as
Cultivating Original Enlightenment), the Dharmakaya is presented as actively drawing sentient beings to enlightenment.
In the
Lotus Sutra, we learn that Shakyamuni Buddha is ultimately and in all instances drawing all sentient beings to enlightenment by means of contrivances, tricks, situational humor, and other upaya. Is this to be interpreted as the personal work of one Buddha and his emanations, or as the Dharmakaya talking (as it were)?
My point is that there may be grounds in some Mahayana texts, including some apocryphal sutras, for such an interpretation. As for me:
