If you are a dog lover, you will love this heartwarming story...a bond between a man and a Japanese Akita puppy... a beautiful relationship...the true spirit of family and loyalty, while inspiring the hearts of an entire town.

Based on a true story from Japan, Hachi: A Dog's Tale is a moving film about loyalty and the rare, invincible bonds that occasionally form almost instantaneously in the most unlikely places. College professor Parker Wilson (Richard Gere) finds a young Akita puppy that's been abandoned at the local train station, and he's instantly captivated by the dog. Assuming the dog's owner will return to the train station to claim him in the morning, Parker takes the puppy home overnight. But when no one comes to get the dog, Parker convinces his wife, Cate (Joan Allen), to welcome him as part of the family. He dubs the puppy Hachiko--Hachi, for short--because of the Japanese symbol for good luck that's hanging from his collar. Hachi is a somewhat peculiar dog that refuses to learn to fetch or master other people-pleasing tricks, but he is a faithful companion and friend to Parker, alerting him of potential dangers and accompanying him to the train station each morning and meeting him there after his return trip each evening. An unforeseen event will continually test Hachi's devotion. This film is neither overwrought nor sappy; it is heartfelt and immensely powerful . Prepare to be moved to tears by this beautiful, seemingly simple film--it's about so much more than just the relationship between a man and his dog.

When I see Reddust's beautiful Indian-lady painting...The movie CENTENNIAL flashs into my mind..I love the name of the pretty Indian maid "Clay Basket". I like the look of love in Richard Chamberlain's eyes when he was with the Indian maid...a great love story! And Babara Carrera was so beautiful!!!

Journey to the Wild West in the sweeping, sensational epic drama Centennial: The Complete Series! Relive the grand hopes, dreams, loves, and adventures of generations of residents in Centennial, Colorado - from their risky attempts to establish a settlement in 1795 through the politics and power plays of the 20th century.

Michener's story explores the discovery of the west and shows us heroism and cowardice, greatness and pettiness and is a superb history lesson which everyone will enjoy. The series presents this story in the form of characters you will grow to like, admire, love, hate and remember. People I've watched the series with have shown deep emotion and cried through the depiction of the Indian massacre.

BEFORE THE RAIN

Sawaddee Ka

Now that I have NETFLIX on my 70" big screen ...I'm pretty much like a kid in the candy store...I've so many good movies to watch everyday!!
I watched BEFORE THE RAIN starring: Linus Roache, Rahul Bose...very very good/sad movie..nope, I didn't cry..but the danger of passion really get into my brain !!

Image

Racial and sexual tensions run high in this tragic story of illicit love between a British planter and a village woman in 1937 India. Linus Roache is the planter who hopes to build a road before the Monsoon comes. Kandita Das is Sejani, the lovely servant woman in his house. She is married to a brutal man much older than she. He is married too - with a wife and a young son who are visiting from England. The lovers drive into the jungle to make love. It's only a matter of time before Sejani is seen there with a man and her husband finds out.

Events start to tumble out of control as the villagers spike up their protests against British rule, which brings work on the new road to a stop. The native manservant, aware of the affair between the two lovers, becomes torn between two worlds - his own heritage and concern for Sejani - and the promise of greater prosperity in partnership with the British.

The photography is stunning in its scope and beauty of the wild, untamed jungles of Southern India and its intermittant sculpted tea plantations. An absolutely gripping tale, beautifully told!
