Copy of the traval account of Xuanzang?

Postby PRR » Fri May 24, 2013 3:37 pm

I am interested in the state of early Buddhism in India, and I'd like to find out what Xuanzang (a Chinese Buddhist traveler in India in the 600s) said about it in his Great Tang Records on the Western Regions. Unfortunately Google Books doesn't have an e-copy.

Is anyone here aware of a digital copy of this work? I looked on Buddhanet.net, and while they have some interesting literature, I didn't see this book listed.

They have been published in print form by BDK/Numata, but they don't seem to be on the list of digital editions they have made available.

Thanks for Beal's Buddhist Records - it is still the text whose page numbers are used for references in books referencing Xuanzang. Now I can locate the quote in one and questimate its location in the nifty new BDK Tripitaka Translation Series edition.
