Lama Zopa Rinpoche on Lama Tsongkhapa Day:
In addition to the other offerings, it is best to offer as many light offerings as you can. It is very common to offer lights on Lama Tsongkhapa day, even in Solu Khumbu, which is mostly Nyingma. Although the villagers and townspeople don't really know about Lama Tsongkhapa, somehow that day and night they still do lots of light offerings.

Just as many people often use lots of lights during Christmas and at marriages, we too should use lots of lights on Lama Tsongkhapa day and on special days of Buddha and other auspicious days, especially if we are not able to offer them everyday, which would be good...
In order to ensure my mind never comes under the power of the self-cherishing attitude,
I must obtain control over my own mind.
Therefore, amongst all empowerments, the empowerment that gives me control over my mind is the best,
and I have received the most profound empowerment with this teaching.

What are you guys doing at your dharma centres to celebrate? Since it falls on a Saturday this year it is a good opportunity to involve lots of people.

At the main retreat centre here in the Netherlands (Loenen) they will do a Yamantaka self initiation. At the branch centre in Amsterdam Geshe la will give the oral transmission of Lama Tsongkhapa's guru yoga (Ganden Lhagyama) and we will offer a Lama Chopa Tsog.

We will have a Guru Puja in the evening. Many people will be there, because there is Lamrim-lesson all day before.
Because, if our mothers, who have been kind to us
From beginningless time, are suffering,
What can we do with (just) our own happiness?

We will be celebrating at our center and on top of that there is an update on Kechara Forest Retreat Project.
Hope we all can offer millions of lights to Je Tsongkhapa!
