future role of Sakya Trizin what do you think about it?

Post by tobias »

Hey,
you probably already read the announcement off HH Sakya Trizin about the future role of sakya Trizin

http://tibet.net/2015/01/official-annou ... -buddhism/

What do you think about it?
Do you see special advantages. such as there are maybe more if these great teachings cycles like lamdre, Collection of Sadhanas, and so on?

In the first moment for me the 3-year chaning of the Sakya trizin sounds a little strange cause it seems to be unusual

greetings
tobias
The path of pure mind cannot be conceived as true or false because self-sprung awareness itself cannot be defined: in the direct vivid presence of timeless inclusive identity thought arises but like a shadow

According to Malcolm, it is based on advice by Khyentse Chokyi Lodro, and is to give all the branches of the Khon family a chance to make use of their training; the previous generation of those who had settled in the US mostly did not go very far in their training.

My wife is a student of the Sakya Lama Jampa Thaye ( But refuses to have anything to do with Buddhist discussion forums  ) and she is fully in agreement with this development..She feels that it will encourage a more disseminated responsibility.

This arrangement has a modern parallel since most CEOs in MNCs have a 3-years tenure contract to show their results these days.

It is actually based on the term of the Ngor Khenpos. Ngor had four palaces, and in order to make sure qualified teachers from the four palaces would have their turn, a Ngor Khenpo would serve for three years and then give up his place to the next in line.

I can kind of see the benefit of shifting the role of Sakya Trizin between two podrangs. In this age when they are in living in exile in foreign lands, if the role of Sakya Trizin stays in one podrang for two consecutive generations, the lineage in the other podrang may be broken since trained teachers have no chance to contribute and the interest in subsequent generations may just die out.
