Postmeditation in advanced guru yogas

Post by cck123 »

Hi,

i have a question about selfvisualization as yidam in 8th Karmapa Guru Yoga.
Is it possible to see myself as yidam Chakrasamvara in postmeditation or is it like in other Guru Yogas. Normally there should be a wang and the mantra before classic self-generation, or not?

Best wishes

i think many masters have said that the most important thing in meditation is to know what you are doing…

i think the best thing to do is to go consult a karma kagyu lama with whom you have a connection.

and yes you need to have the wang to do self generation.

if you are interested in Chakrasamvara empowerment, in the Drikung Kagyu Lineage there will be a Grand Chakrasamvara empowerment in Hungary on 5-9th of June and in Milarepa retreat center in Germany on 13-21st of June. www.drikung.org
If the thought of demons
Never rises in your mind,
You need not fear the demon hosts around you.
It is most important to tame your mind within....

In so far as the Ultimate, or the true nature of being is concerned,
there are neither buddhas or demons.
He who frees himself from fear and hope, evil and virtue,
will realize the insubstantial and groundless nature of confusion.
Samsara will then appear as the mahamudra itself….

Normally you'd practice Thun Shi Lamai Naljor after having received some HYT wang-usually Kamtsang Phagmo or Kamtsang Demchok. In which case it's always appropriate to visualize oneself as yidam. But for the purpose of this practice, there's no self-generation stage beforehand. It's a simple and instant self-generation, following the instructions of the text and commentary itself.

"Absolute Truth is not an object of analytical discourse or great discriminating wisdom,
It is realized through the blessing grace of the Guru and fortunate Karmic potential.
Like this, mistaken ideas of discriminating wisdom are clarified."
- (Kyabje Bokar Rinpoche, from his summary of "The Ocean of Definitive Meaning")

I was just wondering that there is no wang needed even for instant self generation and there's a yidam like Demchog without commitments?
