I would also say "family responsibilities" should be added to the list.
If one has a spouse or children (and the job necessary to support them for example), then to be "off the grid" for 3 years would be quite a feat!

By the way, does anybody knows the curriculum for the three year retreat in Dhagpo Kundrel Ling, that was created by H.H Gyalwa Karmapa Thaye Dorje?
I search on the site http://www.dhagpo-kundreul.org/en/index.php but could n`t find the details...

I would be very surprised if it was substantially different than the other Karma Kagyu 3 year retreat programs, but I don't know that for a fact. The lineage prayers would have a minor difference of course.

3y retreat center in Poland established by Kyabje Tenga Rinpoche.
2nd group of 3y started this August.

There are also facilities for shorter retreats and fully qualified Lamas available to teach and occasionally Rinpoches visiting.
