Refuge and Bodhicitta
Vajra dhara Lama Embodiment of the 3 Jewels
I take refuge in you and will until I attain enlightenment
Sentient beings victims of confused projection suffering
I generate the mindset for enlightenment
In order to establish you in non-abiding state

Vizualization
Lord vajradhara Jigten Sumgon
Seated on a seat of 10 strengths, 4 fearlessness and 18 unmixed dharmas
Major and minor marks of love, compassion and bodhicitta
Radiate rays of light and
Your non-conceptual enlightened activities reach all migrators equally

Mantra Recitation
OM AH RATNA SHRI SARWA SIDDHI HUNG(Repeat Many Times)

Blessing Supplication
You are the buddhas Nagakulapradipa and Dipankara of the past,
Maitreya of the future and Sakyamuni of the present
The reincarnation of Nargajuna, the peerlass Ratna Shri
Lord Jigten Sumgon I supplicate you

Empowerment and Dissolution
Lights rays emanate from the lama’s body, speech and mind and
Dissolve into my 4 places thereby purifying the 4 obscurations
Bestowing the 4 empowerments and
Planting the seeds of the 4 kayas
The Lama then dissolves into myself
My mind is now natural luminosity-emptiness (Rest in the state of mind as it is)

Dedication
Through both the innate virtue and virtue accumulated
In the 3 times by all in samasara and nirvana
May I and all sentient beings filling space none left out
Realize the coemergent ultimate reality
And attain the final state of non-abidance or peace

I stumbled across this practice the other day while browsing info on the Kagyu lineage.

I feel a deep and profound affinity to it, for some odd reason. I'm drawn to it almost magnetically and want to practice it.

Does it require empowerment, initiation or any other blessings in order to perform the practice?

My Guru was Khenchen Palden Sherab Rinpoche, but he has passed into mahaparinirvana as many of you know.

Since his passing I have been practicing a Medicine Buddha sadhana.

But after hearing this sadhana chanted by Khenchen Khonchog Gyaltshen Rinpoche, I welled up with tears of longing & devotion.

I have found little on the mantra contained therein and only sparse commentaries on this practice text.

I'm struck by it's simplicity yet I recognize it's stirring potency.

IN reading it, there doesn't appear to be a self generation stage of visualization so is it safe to assume that it may not require a lung, wang or other blessing?

I'll honor any feedback and I appreciate anytime and attention-

Strictly speaking, if you have had any major empowerment, you would be qualified to practice such a sadhana - guru yoga

Otherwise if you are on the moon suppose, with no one better to ask, then with a mind fixed on refuge, Bodhicitta and with devotion to the Guru you can't really go wrong.

As for generation, if you know any self generation practice - then you could do that, if not, then just as yourself is probably good. Traditionally for the lineage of Je Jigten Sumgon, Chakrasamvara would be used - but again this is :yinyang: not so important.

Best regards

Brian,

According to Jigten Sumgon, it is totally acceptible to rely on him as a Guru (He said, as many great realized beings that calling upon him when one doest not have a guru, he blessings will always be ther. (this can be found in the book "prayer flags" by kenchen konchok gyalthsen).

I think Kenchen wrote that sadhana as a condensed version and daily practice of the guru yoga of Lord Jigten Sumgon. Not sure if he requires lung to practice, but I dont belive he does. As a side note, Garchen Rinpoche from the same Drikung lineage has said many times that arousing Bodhicitta is the actual transmission (one example is in his own guru yoga practice) of any practice.

Tsatsum Lingpa has a karmic link with Achi Chokyi Drolma and drikung (read about it here http://www.turtlehill.org/khen/tsa.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Also Drikung practices the Yamantaka terma of Nub Sangye Yeshe, so perhaps you being connected to Tsasum Lingpas lineage and the fact you feel faith towars this paticular guru yoga is something?:)

thats my two cents
