Teachings and practice with Rinpoche.
Lama Wangdu Rinpoche, a Chöd master and a lineage holder of Padampa Sangye's Shije tradition, will offer empowerments and teachings on the Chöd practices called Accomplishment on One Seat and Bellowing Laugh of the Dakinis. This is a rare opportunity to train with a recognized master and yogi in this ancient teaching of dismemberment and offering.
A powerful practice for cutting through one's fearful preoccupation with self, Chöd expresses the heart of the Buddhist Mahayana teachings on compassion. Chöd is practiced in all of the Tibetan Buddhist lineages and is especially important in Rinpoche's Nyingma tradition. In addition to receiving permission to perform the practice, retreatants will get copies of the texts, be instructed in the use of the Chöd instruments and learn the melodies sung by Chödpas since the time of Padampa Sangye and Machik Labdron.
Rinpoche was born in the Tingri region of Tibet in 1936. While in his teens, he received transmission for Chöd, the Longchen Nyingthig and other teachings from his root lama, Naptra Rinpoche. He has completed the traditional 108 charnel grounds retreat and spent many years practicing Chöd in the wild places of Tibet, India and Nepal. In 2001, after HH Dalai Lama asked him to preserve the Chöd and Shije teachings and train a new generation of practitioners he founded Pal Gyi Dingri Langkor Gonpa in Kathmandu.Rinpoche is known throughout Nepal, Tibet and China as an accomplished, compassionate and generous yogi, teacher and healer.
