Chime Phagme Nyingtig iconography

Postby Nilasarasvati » Tue May 07, 2013 8:17 pm

I'm looking for some clarification: is it accurate that the CPN mandala/visualization has White Tara actually facing us and Amitayus in her lap with his back to us? If so is there any other yabyum where this is the case? It seems like a huge (and refreshing) difference.

Yes, in the Zabtig Drolma from the Chokling Tersar.

You can read about it in "Skillful Grace", p.155:

I just noticed this interesting quotation from that book, p.181:
This Tara practice is endowed with incredible blessings. The present
Dzongsar Khyentse Rinpoche told me that he considers this Tara
practice as the most profound of all Chokgyur Lingpa's termas. In
Bhutan, he personally sponsors it to be done one hundred thousand
times annually. - Orgyen Tobgyal Rinpoche, unpublished teaching,
2002.
The truly undisturbed mind is not a private experience; it is more "public". - Dza Kilung Rinpoche

Most people think of Zabtik Drolma as the "Four Mandala Offering" with the 21 praises. That's the "Outer Practice."

Magnus is referring to a less-commonly known level of the practice. There are "Inner" and "Secret" practices.

You know, there's also a practice of "Chakrasamvara and Vajrayogini Reversed" I have read about, somewhere, but I can't recall where. It was in the context of someone having difficulty with the visualization of Chakrasamvara practice, so he was given this particular practice.
