I heard once that the two little circles (visarga) to the right of the red main syllable should actually be visualized in front. That is, the circles are to the side for ease of reading, but when doing practice and visualzing, the circles belong in front of the Ah letter. Would some knowledgeable person please verify?
Never heard about in front. (Guru Yoga since '79) I was always told /shown - on the right. Whenever I asked a Master to draw the three syllables for me, the two circles were always on the right and no mention was made of in front.
My two cents, with apologies to those who disagree, is that - if you are an unconditioned Dzogchen practitioner - then it is OK to try things, in different ways, to see what works for you. Sometimes I like to make the three syllables like 3 dimensional children's' stuffed animals, but made of light, vibrant and alive, and in the middle of spherical tigles of many colors. Sometimes I like the two dimensional, flat, representation better.
In all cases it helps to have the 3 syllables be REALLY bright, and of identical energy, internally / externally. The easy way to learn the visualization is to construct a light machine, using three colors of stage gel behind the cutouts of the three letters. Then do 13 bum of Vajra Guru accumulations in front of a blessed GR thanka. That's what I did. Doing 7 bum accumulations of the Purification of the 6 Lokas helps to make the visualization even stronger. That's what I did.
Serious Dharma practitioners, please leave the post here.
Now if you really want the secret teachings
watch some of this:
(How can you be in two places at once if you are not anywhere at all?)
Please stop the Firesign Theater video if it is too much, and try: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WMhQ_aXB ... tedhttp://http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UCQShAm5vohttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EtXGKqWz8nUhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sCzgdF_WjOg
If you can play all three at once and maintain your presence and awareness, then you get the bardo busters merit badge!
I guess my point is - that with instant presence and awareness, M-A-Y-B-E it does not matter what bardo you find yourself in, or whether the visarga is on the right or in front.
Who was that masked man? I-dun-o, but he carried a silver phurba.
Hope this helps!
