Wiki has the death dates of Nyala Rinpoche Rigdzin Changchub Dorje as 1961/1978 - which is correct?

Also is there an online image, photo or tanka of this bodhisattva? Have not found one yet.

Maybe there's an old photograph of Rinpoche somewhere that has Changchub Dorje in it... this is one of the oldest photos I've seen of ChNN:

I'm sure taking photos was probably a rare occasion but you never know there could be one out there somewhere.

I know next to nothing about ChNN - which one is he in this photo - the bhikshu in the center?

I believe so (but I could be wrong).

Yup. That's him.

I wonder if two of the others are relatives, with the similar dour downturned mouth? The one to his right looks like a brother and the back row, center, another one.

Still hope we at Dharma Wheel have enough merit to see a photo of his bodhisattva lama.

I think the monk sitting down is his uncle Khyentse? In My Reincarnation I think that was the same photograh Yeshe was looking at when the filmmaker asked if that was his reincarnation. ChNN never took the Bhiksu vows anyway. Elsewhere he mentions that Khyentse was quite fat though.

Rinpoche is the monk in the center.
He studied in a Sakya monastery for several years.

To Rinpoche's right is his brother and I think the elderly woman in the back is his grandmother.
She was awesome and a close student of Adzom Drukpa.

I found this. They don't have a pic of Changchub Dorje either, just a statue of him, but his granddaughter is there.

Tashi delek,

Nyala Rinpoche Rigdzin Changchub Dorje (1826-1961/1978) has a Dzogchen Lineage whereof ChNN is the actual Rigdzin.

I read that also Shardza Tashi Gyaltsen (1859-1935) was a Dzogchen Teacher of Nyala Rinpoche as well Adzom Drugpa (1842-1924), Nyala Pema Dündul (1816-1872), his student Nyala Terton Rangrig Dorje.

Would be interesting to know more about this Dzogchen Lineage like:

- The name of that Lineage
- Their Dzogchen Cycle of Teachings.
- Masters and Teachings
- In how far all Masters who did teached Nyala Rinpoche, are involved in the Lineage Teachings

Yeah I thought that was really cool when I first read it (and still do).

Have you seen all of the following links?

Tashi delek,

Thanks for the informations.

The Detailed Longchen Nyingtik Lineage has a first and a second / later part.
To which part does Nyala Rinpoche belong or is he inside both Nyingtik Lineages?

Sorry forgot to ask are there also within both Nyingtik Lineages monks ?

What do you mean, one has a lineage and the other is a Rigdzin? What does Rigdzin mean?

Rigdzin is vidhyadhara, knowledge holder.
Knowledge of the primordial state that is.

So Namkai Norbu's lama was not a knowledge holder?

Sure he was, so is ChNN and a few others. Changchub Dorje is often referred to as Rigdzin Changchub Dorje.
Rigdzin is an honorific title for Dzogchen mansters, similar to how sarma tantric masters are sometimes called Dorje Chang.
