I use Ubuntu 11.10 but I don't access the webcasts. If they play in a normal webrowser, there shouldn't be any problems if you've installed all the codecs.
I'd suggest going to the software center and installing the 'Ubuntu restricted extras' package which should have all the codecs you need. If that doesn't work, come back
Had done that as soon as I'd installed Ubuntu.
Installed pretty much everything here. Still nothing.

You can install the flash player via the ubuntu software center.You will have to install the flash plugin aswell...
Interestingly, youtube is the only thing that plays - vimeo won't work, and the DC default webcast player looks like a bad cubist/constructivist painting. Flash I've got, will try to disable the bleeding harware acceleration in a moment.
