'No, You Can’t Call a Buddhist Student’s Faith “Stupid”'

A place for discussion of current events. Buddhist news would be particularly appreciated.

In another blow to blatant intolerance, a Louisiana court ruled that a school has the duty to not let its teachers call students of non-Christian faiths stupid.
If that sounds obvious, you aren’t running the Sabine Parish School District.

Usually when a teacher tells you something is stupid, it gives you even more reason to pursue it just to show them otherwise.

Of course... that is if you get that chance to do so in the first place in some places...

The headlines focus on the teacher's behavior, but the article indicates that the superintendent and school board supported the teacher's actions.

Sigh.

Sigh.

Yes, and not just that school but every school in the district (county?).
BIG sigh.

Well, I'm hoping the family remains safe through all of this. There was a girl in that same part of the world who tried to start an Atheism club in her school. Her school has many bible clubs. She won the legal battle, but abandoned the effort because she was receiving death threats.
