Winter Teachings at Drikung Kagyu Rinchen Ling

Winter Teachings will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal, at Drikung Kagyu
Rinchen Ling Monastery. This is the monastery of His Eminence the late
Drubwang Konchog Norbu Rinpoche and His Holiness Kyabgon Chetsang
Rinpoche will inaugurate the temple as well as hold the Winter
Teachings there.
# October 31–November 7, 2009: For seven days, a Chakrasamvara
drubchen, or accomplishment retreat, will be held. On the last day,
H.H. the Drikung Kyabgon will perform an extensive Chakrasamvara
consecration.
# November 9: On the auspicious date of Lhabab Duchen (Lord Buddha’s
descent from the god realms) and the birthday of H.H. Kyabgon
Chungtsang Chökyi Nangwa, H.H. Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and the
entire assembly will inaugurate the new monastery according to both
ancient and modern traditions. Keynote addresses and performances of
song and dance will follow.
# November 10: The teachings and reading transmission for the
extraordinary Drikung Phowa Chenmo, Planting the Stalk, and the
Amitayus empowerment according to the tradition of Machig Drupay
Gyalmo (ma gcig grub pa'i rgyal mo, Sole Mother Queen of the Siddhas)
tradition will be given.
# November 11: On the 830th anniversary of Kyobpa Jigten Sumgön's
founding of the Drikung Kagyu lineage, in the morning, the great
silken thangka of Kyobpa Rinpoche will be displayed and an extensive
Lama Chöpa (bla ma mchod pa) feast offering will be performed. In the
afternoon, the empowerment for the Four-Armed Avalokiteshvara in the
tradition of King Songtsen Gampo (reigned 617-649) will be granted.
# November 13–27: Over fifteen days, the Kagyu Ngag Dzö (bka' brgyud
ngag mdzod, The Kagyu Treasury of Oral Instructions) will be given,
and on the final day, an extensive long-life mandala will be offered.
