On 30th November notifications were sent out to members of Dzogchen Community to inform everyone that a retreat teaching to be given by Rinpoche in Brazil had been suspended.

A few hours ago another notification was sent out to ask practitioners to practice Mandarava (text, audio and video are available on the webcast website in the restricted area).

"Merigar West will transmit on webcast two Thun of Mandarava Practice every day till December 5th .

These webcasts will start at 10:00 and 19:00 (Italian Time GMT+1) to allow people from all over the world to join. They will be led by Nina Robinson and Adriano Clemente."

According to the information received Rinpoche was due to have surgery however that has been cancelled. A statement from Rinpoche's son -

"Dear All Near and Far,

i would like to inform that Rinpoche is in hospital of Sao Paulo and receiving appropriate treatment for strong infection.
There are ot her two issues that can be connected with this infection that affect the right kidney and the mesenteric artery.
He is coming out of intensity care and continuing the course of investigations, the response to the treatment and his general condition is satisfactory.

Once the infection is controlled the other two issue will be scheduled for cure, we wait for more precise information in the next days.
All are doing their best, the staff of the hospital, the doctors, all we Dzogchen Community.

May Chogyal Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche have an immediate recovery and return to continue to transmit the precious dharma. May he be swiftly healed and his suffering lifted like the wind, with all the help of Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and the doctors who are tending to his ailing body. May his precious human body be free of infection and pain, and his mind steadfast and keen. I pray for his swift recovery and strong health.

Rinpoche's Health

Rinpoche's infection is reducing, this is a good new!
Doctors are also optimistic toward the right kidney issue.

Also this message was included:-

Rinpoche's Birthday coming

Soon it will be Rinpoche's birthday. The Namkhai family thought to ask the people of the community to send small video messages to Rinpoche. We will gather them and present to Rinpoche.

May all obstacles to Rinpoche's recovery and healing be swiftly removed.

May infinitely many of the healing herbs and fruits of the Medicine Buddha continuously fall into Rinpoche's body like rain, removing all sickness and restoring health, so that he may continue to teach and benefit all sentient beings.

From an email received today:-

Today's evening webcast session from Merigar West will be transmitted at 18:00 ( Italian time GMT+1 ) this change was decided since Rinpoche will have a (planned) surgery on the kidney today at 15 (Brazil time GMT-2).

As stated, the surgery was already planned since his conditions are improving and it's aimed to further check Rinpoche's health and it will last two hours.

Great! I'm happy to hear that Rinpoche is getting better.

May he continue to heal and recover until he is back to perfect health! May his doctors be assisted by the healing powers of all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas!

An excerpt from an email received a short time ago:-

Rinpoche's health:

Yeshi Namkhai recently sent the following message:

Dear All Near and Far,

I would like to inform that Rinpoche today afternoon had surgery of the right kidney, laparoscopy of 1/3 of size (removed 1/3 of the kidney). All went fine and now He is in observation. The insertion of the stent for the aortic aneurisma is scheduled for next monday.

However we wait for more precise information in the next days.

All are doing very well, the staff of the hospital, the
doctors, all we Dzogchen Community.

New Update:

Dear All Near and Far,

i would like to inform that Rinpoche received catheter-based procedure today later then scheduled and with general anesthesia, three stent were implanted and aneurysm cured. It was a complicate and long but completely successful. Tonight and tomorrow is in observation, his response is satisfactory and no complication is expected.

The staphylococcus infection has been treated, preventive medication continue (also colonies growth exam did not show latency).
All medications are given intravenously, will continue also in home care (three times a day).

Rinpoche is resting after intense day, look fine and relaxed.

Hey guys, Rinpoche is out of the hospital and recovering.

Dear All Near and Far,

I would like to inform that Rinpoche had not complication after surgery and yesterday went out to hotel in downtown Sao Paulo.

He is in home care for 2, every monday will meet main doctor.

Three times a day nurse come to check and give medication.
