We should serve and reverence our elders, parents, teachers...
Guru Padmesambhava: do not be a sorrow to your elders; serve them with respect.
If we help them and those in need of help, we are treading the path of the Boddhisattvas and we should give up what is at variance with that atitude....

This is an excerpt from something muni wrote. There are so many mind objects that are at odds with that attitude at times, yet the bodhisattva vows and bodhicitta pop up naturally in the mind. Especially when samsara presents people and situations that challenge us.

So, how hold our mind in a position that adheres to naturally giving up that which is at odds with the bodhisattva way? How to help those in needs when our instinct is to turn away?
