Campaign to Free Jarvis Jay Masters
Jarvis Jay Masters is a reformed criminal, on death row in California since 1990. Born in 1962 into extremely disruptive circumstances, he was sent to San Quentin Prison when he was 19. Jarvis was commended to death as a participant in the 1985 murder of prison police officer, Sergeant Howell Burchfield. Jarvis himself did not participate in the actual murder but may have had a role in constructing the murder weapon. In the 1990's Jarvis began practicing Tibetan Buddhism and by all reliable accounts has reformed himself. A retrial for his role in the 1985 murder of Sergeant Burchfield has been ordered by the California Supreme Court.
